Search, and Rescue, are both intrinsically dangerous endeavors, more so than the act someone screwed up in the first place. Risk can be mitigated but not eliminated.

Those of us who are involved in search and rescue, either paid (military, fire, forest rangers, etc) or volunteer (the vast majority in the US) really would prefer staying in bed, but will go out in any kind of horrible weather, any day of the year (Thanksgiving dinner was a turkey tetrazzini MRE, Christmas in pouring rain looking for a missing aircraft on the pacific, numerous new years eves, birthdays, weddings, funerals, graduations) so that others may LIVE.

NOT to engage in some damned virtue signalling....
