    Cammie, that picture is similar to a fire ant mound after being disturbed. The ants being pi$$ed.

    I recall seeing it on TV as a kid. Scared me pretty well. I have it on DVD now. Classic sf giant bug movie with an interesting twist, makes it almost a mystery at first .... the frightened mute little girl ...... the wierd footprint near the wrecked trailer....strange sounds from the desert.
    And those two oddball tight-lipped scientists ....as James Arness quiped; "myrmicologists....." (there are no dictionaries in Arizona I guess).
    Scientifically it's as much hogwash as any other giant bug film. But it's a great film. Leonard Nimoy is in it for like ten seconds!
