    Default prepper panic

one my neighbors, who considers himself prepared just got a rude awakening
he is off grid and has nice hydro system w solar
but his only 110v inverter took a dump
two is one and one is none, he is now in the none category
wanna guess what has happened to lead times for inverters recently?

np, he thought he will just order a bunch of additional freeze dried food
and you already know the state of those deliveries

and his chicken flock has been decimated over last few months because of inadequate preditor protection
no problem, he can get fertile eggs from me and pop them in the incubator - oops that takes 110v AC - no inverter no incubator

I think at this point everyone is going to have to make do with what you got right now.
may be possible to get a few obscure items, but the easy and obvious preps are GONE

Great wake up. Even my kids calling asking what to stock up on. They standing in long lines, being rationed, and going home empty handed. We trying to help them some by checking our stores, not personal stash. Interesting times
Once on safari in deepest darkest Afganistan we ran out of Gin, and were compelled to survive on food and water for several days.

He should have Silkies on his off grid.. They go broody year round. They lay small eggs but they will brood any egg. Ours even hatched big ol turkey eggs. Great little incubators and brooder flock.

Hook back to the grid, for the time being, seems simple enough.

    was never on grid

he is using tiny backup genny now until he can get new inverter.
but he does have 12dc fridge and freezer and a few other 12v lights.

but a reminder that two is one and one is none, and murphy will always show up

Long cable to Explo's house, step up voltage to 440V (most are rated for 600V), then back down to 110, into battery charger. Need to do some math, but any port in a storm

Not gonna lie, ive been out of the prepping mindset for a few years now.. But before this had the thoughts of restarting my preps.

This pandemic has me absolutely terrified. I have more then many, but the future is so uncertain that im not sure how much more I can prep.. Because im not sure ill have a job..
