Yes it depends on what you bring to the table. Altho if you can't make some money in todays economy you are disabled or lazy. I also want to do chickens again this year. I have lots of experience with egg producers but too little time. I also do welding and generator repair, my wife is an RN with herbal natural medicine back ground. Our trip this week to the big box discount food store cost $750. We are also raising a teenager so our plan is to not have them pry the boom stick from our cold dead fingers.
