    I'd suggest starting with less likely then work up, a little foreplay.....
    Don't bring skittles to a gun fight.

    But you also compromise the plate for the good shot if you're worried about highest performance. I would start with the FMJ and work back from there.

    That is what I was thinking due to this being similar to a ceramic plate. The more rounds it takes the higher the likelihood of a failure. So start off with the round that has the greatest chance of a complete pass through.


    It looks like I will be testing this at a friends range. He is ex military and ex police so Iím sure he will get a kick out of this, and the range I normally visit frowns on anything like this.

    After a year of waiting, I now have the DIY ballistic plate in my car. If all goes well Iíll be trying this out today. There will be video footage of the test so as long as the Tube is working right, there should be a video up this afternoon.

    No pass through!!!


    Yep. With a 130 grain .270 round it bulged the back of the plate but it did not pass through!!!
