Default got me a 20lb bacon seed tonight

She's a Hampshire piglet, named her bacon. We have her penned in the garden for now until I figure out where her grow out home will be. I'll get a picture of her tomorrow, Heidi our German Shepard is so excited she has a new friend to play with LOL.

So how long do you feed her out, or when does she get slaughtered? Do you have a target date, or just whenever weather looks right?

A little of both, she's around 5 weeks according to this chart..... we will probably give her to the middle of Dec. So we will have a Christmas ham, she should be around 100lbs

Bacon seed, eh? I was just wondering how deep you have to plant it, is it an above ground crop or below ground? And when could I expect it to be ready for harvest? (Heh, heh)
