Thread: My gardens are picking up momentum!

Default My gardens are picking up momentum!

Already picking some squash, zucchini and cucumbers, green beans, lots of herbs, of course asparagus and radishes, collard greens, Spinach and onions. Everything else is doing very well and flowering like crazy. My bees are all over them. Potatoes will be ready to harvest next month.
Here's a quick view in the corner of my kitchen garden I took early this morning.
Gotta get back out there in the big gardens and weed some more. Unfortunately, these little rain storms are giving the weeds a boost too.

This is small patches of corn, bush beans, spinach, zucchini and to the back left a small plot (10'x12'x14') of Emerald Okra coming up.

Very impressive! I finally finished all my planting including an asparagus bed (thank you for the encouragement). Now the fun of nurturing and maintaining begins!

    Thanks...
Just don't get discouraged with the Asparagus. It takes time. You can start harvesting the second year but I actually waited three to insure a nice healthy root spread. Twice a year I cover the beds with more compost to build it up as the soils settle.
    It is worth the wait.
Asparagus is one of my favorite veggies so I have been thinking of building a 4' long X 2' wide trug to grow some inside in the kitchen by the back dbl French doors. Plenty of light back there. The fern would be a nice decor.

That's great Cammie - I miss having a garden, tilling the earth and watching things grow. When I lived in the midwest I had a nice little back yard spread. Where we are now, the soil is lousy and the sunlight in the back yard sucks. I've tried container gardening, no luck with it so far. Hoping in a year or two to have a place where we can put something in the ground and expect a return on it. Looks great, keep doin' what you're doin'!
