    Default 801 tractor

ja5onl6, my 801 is 4 on the floor.
it is amazing the iron they put into tractors of that era. I had to change out the glowplug switch and the actual switch was encased in a steel case with the iron being 3/16 thick.

Mine ran OK on Mt. Dew, but for extra HP, try the Big Red injection system.

My uncle had a prefect BOV/tractor.
It was Mercedes Unimog with a really big loading area in the back (like on a pickup, I don't how that is called in english, we rarely see pickups in Europe) and a hydraulic crane that could lift a fair amount of weight. Also it had a electric pulley in the front grill. Boy, what was that a prefect thing!

But the brakes broke, and it spent 2 years in the barn, before being sold. If I had the money and age and driving premit to buy it, I would have done so.

Picture 1: Ours was longer with the hydraulic crane:

And a diagram of what angles of climbing he could handle:

And a picture of the hydraulic arm lifting a genny:

I have one of these but it is very unreliable. Post SHTF when work=food on table I think this would be a more functional system.
