OK, bit the bullet and went DMR. Got the Anytone AT-D878UV "Plus". It's dual, analog and digital. Anytone was running a package deal over Christmas...

I'll have to post up some pics of a homemade directional antenna that we made with pic and tape measures. Adapts to my Baofeng and really works well...
