Grandma, I bought two 1# bags of brown rice today in Meridian, Ms.----$.93 each. As with Cammie, we as a rule use the 25# bags of Basmati from Sam's.

For something to fill the belly, white rice in a big bag equals a lot of full bellies. Get some beans to go with it and a little sauce or spices and dig in.

For storage we can keep rice a long time. The month of january here had about one half the days below 0F and the rest of the days were cold. So in the shade in a outbuilding equals a refrigerator for about 6 months or more of the year.

I'd have to drive 115 miles one way to go to Sam's .. this way I just pick up a couple bags at a time then throw them in the free buckets I get at the local grocery store that has a bakery inside the store. No rush no worry.
