Durgan, my Post name. I am a garden guru extraordinary, not bragging. It is fact. I keep a journal of my garden endeavors, cooking, and preservation. All is hands on experience tempered by garnered information. My growing area is just under half an acre in probably the best growing area in Canada. Enough is produced and preserved to be almost self sufficient in plant food for a year in the Zone 5 four month season. My preservation method is unique and is mainly slurry/juice pressure canning. But I use most methods for storage, root cellar, fermenting, refrigeration, freezing, dehydrating. I deal mostly in plant products. The overall object is to avoid commercial processed food as much as possible.
