It is highly unlikely, but I am no meteorologist.

The original sunspot this thread started with has been around the sun and reappeared. The sunspots get a new number when they reappear and now this spot has a 50% chance of sending a X class outburst towards us as it is earth facing. Check it out at www.spaceweather.com . At this same site check out the "fireball" report. Some say we are experiencing a far greater number of these than in other years?

I read an article in the news this morning that mentioned the northern lights were so bright this weekend that cameras over exposed the photograph. One of the photographers has been photographing the northern lights for years, and has never witnessed such a phenomena.

Yeah, this sun spot has belched out a LOT of M class solar flares. Nothing super strong, but with this many M class flares sending CMEs our way, should there be an X class flare then it will have a greater effect on us due to the atmosphere being bombbarded with CMEs.

If tesla was with us he build a force field to protect us. From humble beginings the guy was brilliant.

It's back for the third time around the sun. It just let out a X-5 flare. That sunspot from the first part of january. has been around the sun 3 times now and is spitting off the largest flare of the current sun cycle. www.spaceweather.com

"X-FLARE! Returning sunspot AR1967 unleashed a powerful X5-class solar flare on Feb. 25th at approximately 00:50 UTC. This is the most intense flare of 2014 so far, and one of the most intense of the current solar cycle. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory recorded the extreme ultraviolet flash:"

Typically, sun spots last no longer than a couple of weeks, but this one has lasted for 3 whole rotations of the sun which is unheard of!! Once again, it bears watching.

    It's dying.

At the same time, there was a large mass coronal ejection yesterday / today on the back side of the sun..

CME's won't kill people - it might interfere with some communications but that is about it.

How about this CME in 2012 that has been measured as probably being stronger than the carrington event? And oly missed the earth by one week?
