The Raptor is one sick ride for those with deep pockets.

After the tally is added up your looking at around 60K for the vehicle itself, that includes the DE-tuneing chip, that is required in several states to make them street legal, unless you want to only run Baja driving conditions (IE mostly flat ground) yes they are great. There is three brand new ones laying at the bottom of Wild Cat Mountain in Ore totaled, all when running the all vehicle poker run, the were all sponsored by FORD. Not to mention there is so much electric crap and 3 different computer systems, and a lot of plastic.

For the money i would look more into a used h1 wagon they, are a right out of the box BOV or closest to one. IMHO

A level headed prepper could see about 40K other ways to blow 50-60K, hell a decently set up M1009 might barely top 5K these days.

For a DD, I would personally go for mpgs however.

Funny I had heard many soldiers who returned from their deployment talk about how bad they would shoot up insurgent vehicles and they would still be able to drive away. Their vehicle of choice? Toyota pickups.

For the money I would get an older Toyota land cruiser diesel. From what I have read if they are over 25 years old they do not have to comply with emission standards and can be imported into the US from Australia or Asia.

If I could only find the .50cal upgrade for my pickup bed.

Raptor is NOT the best BOV.....its just a bad ass truck, and if the lotto fairy blessed me I would add one to the stable.

Best option is learn to hot wire, and how to make bio fuel.

To put a twist on a famous movie quote... Bug out vehicle? Time comes I'll need one, there will be plenty just laying around...
