Default When SHTF Master .pdf List - Last Update 14DEC2011

I've been doing alot of reading on here over the last few months and have found many good .pdf resources buried in a huge variety of threads covering water, food storage, survival skills, medical skills, etc. Has there ever been, or is there now a comprehensive list of .pdf manuals?

I've started a project recently of finding all these different .pdf files and downloading them to my iPad since that is the quickest (and most likely first in this case) item I will take with me if I have to get out of town for whatever reason. That way all these documents will be at my fingertips when I need to reference them. I'm using Good Reader because I'm able to sort the files into subjects.

If there's something like this already, please help me find it. If it doesn't yet exist, maybe this is the thread to start it? Maybe it could be sticky right up there with the When SHTF Master List. The first two I have at my fingertips are below. I know there are many more, and I can update this post as more get added.

I almost forgot. I think it would also be good to include .pdf files of local emergency procedures, flood maps, storm surge maps, etc separated appropriately by region. Basically, I think this could be a valuable "one stop shop" for our preparedness libraries. Thanks for humoring me.

There's a Master List here somewhere, though I think that may be gear oriented.
And while I understand wanting to make a portable library, I'd also like to suggest that instead of just having the .PDFs available for reading if you need them, just learn the information. It's pretty hard to go anywhere without your brain, so the info is always with you. It'll also help you change your mindset, and you'll start paying attention to little things that escaped your notice before.

Let me add a couple more things to this.

    1) There is a master gear list, but I'd like to compile a master manual/knowledge list.
    2) Given, it's better to learn and know all this ahead of time, HOWEVER let's assume the worst case. A new guy joins the forum today and needs to leave tomorrow. There's not enough time to read or learn all the corporate knowledge contained on this website, so it's better to have a .pdf to reference than nothing at all.
    3) I also understand that print is better than electrons on a breakable device, but at some time in the future one could compile several of one's favorite manuals and have UPS or Kinko's print it and bind it. Again, better to have a .pdf than nothing at all.
    4) There's no way an average schmoe like myself can read and retain 100% of the info contained in all these references without devoting a lifetime to the endeavor.

My goal is simply to put links to all this reference material in one place. I hope that makes the intention clear.

+1, I started to write things down in a small notebook. It makes the info more 'physical', and I learned a lot while doing it.

That's exactly the type of thing I was looking for, but couldn't find. As you said in your thread, it would be nice to have a sticky depository for all these manuals so guys like me don't keep asking to consolidate. I'll add my links there.

2 and 3 are valid points, and in that aspect a pretty dang good idea, and would also help this site be THE place to come and get it....woo hoo, site rankings!!! (which could mean some advertising $$ to help offset the cost of all this bandwidth)

As for #4.......well, that last part is kinda the key, isn't it?
Drop a PM to Alaska, Choctaw, Kingchip (meh, he's just the owner...) ....pretty much the Moderating staff, and see if they can help you locate all these things in a central location.

I'll send my modified version of doomguide on up the line, and if they can post it without infringement violations, they probably will.

I concur. As for #4, I'm far ahead of many of my friends and family memebers, but even so there's so much that I don't know yet. Even after years of study, I'm sure there will always be something I will need to refer back to.

Wow ..... what an enormous wealth of information all of these files are !! Thanks very much for this post !
I plan on printing off all that I can and keeping in binder to have as my hard copy and also upload all info on a usb memory stick to keep with iPad in ziplock bag , inside a gortex carry-pouch , solar powered battery charger etc.
