    Default Pack and Pack Board

Just thought I would let everyone know I found a couple gems from The Sportsmans Guide.

    Pack
    http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/c....aspx?a=713472

They're selling them as used, but I cant find a single sign of wear on mine, so that's always a good sign.

The pack itself is solidly built. It reminds me of a mid-range internal frame commercial backpack, but with extra attachment points. I wont go into an overly-long review(unless someone asks), but I consider it a good buy, and a hell of a bargain when you compare it to similar products.

Next up, and the real reason I'm posting

You can definitely tell its been used, but it doesn't matter this thing is built like a tank! Nothing plastic about this, its all stamped, welded metal, heavy canvas and full-grain leather. You would pretty much have to be trying to have a chance at breaking it. It seems to fit pretty well, and is easy to adjust. I haven't had a chance(or need) to haul any REALLY heavy loads, but I can say that it carries a 120 pound woman pretty nicely (to make a long story short, the load that was on it before her was 90 cans of beer and a gallon of vodka).

It is heavy (11 lbs) but thats pretty-much in line with the other pack boards I've used, and for the price, you couldn't buy anything else like it.

Its an absolute buy for me, no question in my mind, would recommend it to anyone who thinks they could use it.

For those of you that have never used a pack board, they are a great thing to have around when you need to haul heavy and/or bulky items. Just make sure you have enough straps to use it properly.
Did you just throw a chicken at me?!

Was thinking about both of those items from SG, thanks for reminding me. They do get some great surplus every now and then and "usually" the prices are decent. I ordered the British desert camo Field Jacket from them and same thing, it was advertised as "used", but was brand spanking new when it arrived. I guess it's a hit or miss kind of deal, you never really know. Still, thanks for the heads up!

If you have an alice pack you could just get a shelf or 2, and then the frame makes a pretty decent packboard. Both packs you shared with us look neat thoug, I especialy like the italian pack. Too bad I am too poor to get it right now.

I haven't done a real-world test. Just stuffed about 40 pounds of random things laying around into it right after it got here and walked around a bit. So far, I can't find anything wrong with it

Dont underestimate yourself as an old fat man, my father fits that general category, and does a significant backpacking trip every year or 2.
