    Default Reflecting This Week

At the risk of living up to my wife's beliefs that I never keep my big mouth shut, I wanted to post something that has weighed on me heavily this Fourth of July week.

All of us have no doubt watched the events of the last few weeks. Midnight executive orders, legalization (essentially) of illegal aliens, new taxes for NOT buying something, the demonization of citizens who want the government to follow the documents on which our Country was founded, etc. Then tonight I see a story where a Phoenix man was sentenced to 6 months in jail, fined over 12 thousand dollars and must serve 3 years of probation, for having a Bible study in his house (no-this is not going to get all religious). All this because the city says he violated city building codes and they go on to say that he was "running an operation reminiscent of a home church". I understand there are laws - believe me. Federal, state, city, county. I mean if you fart in the wrong direction you are probably violating some EPA green house carbon footprint law. Anyhow, just for giggles I read the first amendment of the Bill of Rights. Phrases like prohibition of laws restricting exercising religion and the right to peaceably assemble jump out and slap me in the face. I guess the point I am making is this. This week I have not only thought of our founding fathers and the foundation they laid, but all of those thousands of men (and their sons) who stood up against the British monarchy, the church, and even against their loyalist neighbors. These men stood up, left their families to fend for themselves while they went out to give everything for the freedoms we all have today. Can you imagine? I wonder who now would stand up? I wonder who would openly speak of supporting the ideals, morals, and rights that were granted us not just by our Constitution, but the inalienable rights that each man on the face of this earth is granted. The sad fact is, unless you are a celebrity like politician with a high profile, you don't. Or more accurately, you can't. Why? Because they very government that our ancestors established has labled individuals that firmly believe in the Constitution and call themselves Patriots a threat to our Nation. Lets face it. Even typing a few words of your beliefs on some forum could get you in hot water. Very sad state of affairs.

Yup, it's gonna get ugly eventually. Sometimes, I feel optimistic, and others I just hope my boy is old enough to hold and operate a rifle in his own defense. Not a lot to be optimistic about with the current state of affairs, and not even sure what was intended in the founding documents is salvagebale at this point. Obviously, we (members here) want to just live a peaceful productive life, and die with a warehouse full of food and ammo, and a happy family that we can be proud of. There are days coming when people will be forced to ask themselves, "is my freedom worth it?" or is it better to just try and "get by" under tyrranny. The day will come when the proverbial "line in the sand" is drawn, and people will choose to join in taking back our freedoms, or just go home and continue on. That will be a personal decision for everyone not to be taken lightly, and one which I hope I'm never presented with, because either way, you risk losing something on which a value cannot be placed.

Nobody running for office is worth voting for, but this time, i think it may be worth holding ones nose and pulling the lever for the other guy.

Pinetop ; You couldn't have said it better. I'm of the opinion and this is only my opinion. The majority of people are more worried about living the Good Life or American Dream than they are about what the Govt. is doing to them to enslave them.
They won't wake up until the shackles of slavery are foisted unto them. By then only the 3% of the population if that will be burdened with taking back which is truly ours.
Never in my life time have I've seen so many asking for so much from so few.

The wake up call will be ugly and probably very bloody and costly in human life. But then nothing of any worth comes with out a high price of sacrifice.

+1. I fear that most will be consumed in the "slow boil". One thing at a time....a little here, a little there.... Pardon me while I go throw up.

Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated.

This was this speech I gave to the class in 7th grade. Guess some things stay with you longer than you think they will.
