Only a fool would have one plan, invest all his time and resources into it, and think that the threat will adapt to your efforts or lack their of.

Ok, here is the scenario: We are in week 10 of the aftermath from a worldwide economic collapse. The government is unable to pay wages and many of the state and local essential services have quit in order to protect their families from the riots, looting, and other criminal activity, not to mention they are not getting paid. Most have fled the cities and have taken refuge in rural areas or banned together in an attempt to survive. Food supplies are extremely low and rural areas are becoming a target of looting. Large militant groups have come together in the wake of no law and order and are conducting raids on small towns and outlying dwellings in order to sustain themselves. The power grid has been restricted to essential government operations and medical facilities that are still operational. People are getting desperate. The government shell has declared martial law and is attempting to restore order, however the man power is insufficient to control the masses of people that are starving and without power; the government has fallen back to securing essential military bases, critical government buildings, and essential resources to sustain itself. This is mostly due to lack of funding, military desertion, and the drawdown of forces that has taken place over the last 10 years. The price of fuel is astronomically high and unaffordable. Trucks have stopped moving and stores are without resupply. Using resupply trucks is not an option due to hijackers and complex ambushes being conducted in order to loot. Everyone that depends on power for their livelihood is without work. This is a worldwide event' most countries are in worse condition due to the U.S. being the last ones to fall victim of mass chaos. Drug cartels and large criminal organizations have taken advantage of the situation and are conducting offensive operations. You have heard radio traffic over your scanner of a militant group operating in your area that you estimate to be approximately 80 to 100 (trained) personnel with technical vehicles used for mobility, 2-3 heavy machine guns, 4-8 medium machine guns, a large assortment of small arms, and breaching explosives. Your bug out location has been compromised by a small militant scout element conducting reconnaissance to confirm or deny possible external dwellings. You were able to defend your location after a 20 min fire fight, but one vehicle escaped to report. During the fight your fuel supply was destroyed, (If you are with a group then 2 of your personnel are critically injured, and 1 is dead). If the scout element had communication back to a larger group in vicinity of the nearest town you have approximately 1-2 hours before they conduct an assault to take what is yours. They now know your exact location, where your defensive positions are, strength, disposition, and capabilities to defend. Whatcha gonna to PL? Did you put all your eggs in one basket? Do you have an exit strategy? Will you risk being destroyed by defending in place, losing the ability to regroup and conduct a counter attack (Or if in a small group/alone: attrite their forces through guerilla tactics)? Will the dynamic duo fall into the pit of regret or will they be able to adapt and overcome?
