The Lodge
Chapter 1
As the sun came up, with the temperature around 70 degrees, and Duke was just finishing greasing the last of the machines for the day’s work ahead.
Jeff calls to Duke “boss you’re going to miss this I bet “

“nope, and I hope that your going to be happy with your new boss, since I got you a raise.”

“I really can’t believe that you sold the whole business boss.”
“ why not I have been doing this since I was 7 with my father and I have had enough, my son went into the Army and my girls only like it because they think they should take over the family business.”

“ Well boss can you just leave the girls because they can out work most, and with you gone I might have a chance with Jess.” As Jeff laughs

“careful Jeff I’m still your boss and job site accidents happen every day!” with a grin.
“Yeah yeah I know, but damn boss you do go work she’s beautiful and a worker too.”
“Well Jeff I never stopped you from trying to ask her out Jeff.” Jeff says “I know but her boyfriend I think would.”

“Yeah Jeff she found a big one who should be here any minute in the dump truck.”
As the morning progressed, Duke stood back to take in the company that his father started and that he took over working like an army of ants grading, digging, and pipe going in the ditch.

Jess is oldest daughter of 22 was on the grader waiting for her boy friend Nick to dump his load of rock, Jeff’s operating the excavator digging for the pipe crew, Jennie (his youngest daughter 19) running the scrapper cutting grade for the new road ahead of her sister, and long time employee Cadillac Ed running the 20 ton compactor behind Jess.

Duke Yelled at Kenny his long time mechanic, “hey are you done with my hoe yet? I need to start loading dirt I have trucks waiting and Jennie is out of room almost. “
“ Hell yes, I was about to call your name , by the way since this is the last job for Bijou construction or should I say the real Bijou does this mean I can start calling you a lil shit again.”

“not unless you don’t want to go with the family to new business you old asshole.”
“Ok damn it” as the rough 60 year old man finished putting his tools away shaking his head, still can’t believe that the company that he had worked at for over 34 years was changing hands for the last time and he was coming with the family that he worked for as a part owner in a ranch, as Duke walked the machine to the dirt pile and started loading trucks when his phone started ringing, it was his wife so he answered it.

“Hi my sweet man how’s the family doing to today”
Duke reply’s “the same as always, kicking ass on this job.”
“Well hun I have some great news the Ryan’s say they are willing to take over on Monday so what would you like me to do for lunch today.”
Duke answered” just like we planned hun, make it around 1:00”
“Ok, my great man I love you and I will see you there” while hanging up the phone. He then loaded a couple more trucks, while looking at his watch it was 9:30 am so he called Kenny on the cell phone, he told him the news and to keep it under wraps.

As it was getting closer he to noon he looked down with a long breath thinking to himself 33 years with the family company and it was almost over with and within a week’s his whole family will be all together again living at the Lodge/ family ranch.
Well now that he moved the large amount of the dirt pile well enough to make it the rest of the day he got down off of his big cat excavator and walked to his truck and started honking the horn, until everyone heard him and stopped work and came to the truck. The first to the truck was Nick, his soon to be son and law the way things were working out, has he got closer he spotted his new acquired black eye.
“Did Jess give you that eye” he asked sheepishly
“No I got it training in the ring”
“What do you mean ring you don’t box.”
“You know what I mean, that I have been training in MMA “
“is that what you call it.”
“Yeah dad”
“Not yet you’re not! and you keep saying that I’m going to knock a turd out of you the length of a well rope.”

“DAD!” as Jess comes walking up” would you quit scaring my boy friend”
“ hey sweetie” all of a sudden a body jumped on the back of dukes big frame.
“hey Jennie how’s my lil girl doing?”

Well let’s wait until everyone gets here before you answer that. Now that everyone is here it is time to tell you all the news, as you know I have sold the business, and it is now finally is our last day. The next thing that I want to tell you all is that I am very proud of all of you, no man could have a better bunch of works, friends and family. So I want you all to get washed up because the Bijou family is buying you all lunch and you all get your pay early today since it will be that last time I will be paying you.”
Just then Jeff says” just one minute,” and runs back to where the manhole bases hooks one up to the loader and hauls it over to where everyone is at sitting down and says “ This is the next and last manhole that the real Bijou well set, it should be signed by everyone while it is still wet.”

After everyone has signed it a grey Hummer 2 pulls onto the job and drives over to where everyone is at and parks. Justine gets out “hello everyone” and walks up to Duke and gives him a big kiss “hi hunny” says Duke.” Ok everyone follow my wife to her rig and for your pay” as she opened the back of her hummer she asked Jennie to jump in back. That was full of boxes with envelopes on each box as she handed them to her mother she called out there names, the first one was Jeff he came up and got his box as did the others did.

Jeff gave a” what the hell!” when he opened his envelope and his pay check was there plus a gold maple leaf as did the others. Duke replies ” you all have them, that is your bonus for your loyalty, now open your boxes. The boxes all had the same thing in it, a Fillson tin cloth coat with their names printed on them with the company logo on the back.

Then when they were trying on their new coats 4 large vans pull in and parked, the crew was watching the people in the vans open them up and started pulling tables out and setting them up “Lunch is here guys” as the people are setting up another van pulls in and backs up to one of the tables the whole crew walks over to the table and starts to set down.

The last van had the food in it smelled great as they started to plate it up and set it in front of everyone, prime rib, crab, and all the trimmings. As they ate Nick stood up and ran to his dump truck and came back walked over to Jess. Nick says” hey everyone I was planning to do this for a while but when I heard that boss was going to do this I figured this would be the best time. So Jess would you stand up,” Jess stood up from the table her tall frame of 5’11 blocking the sun as nicks 6’4 framed lowered to one knee, he slips his hand in his pocket and produced a ring box. While opening it Jess started to cry at the words that Nick was speaking, they were ringing in her ears and before he finished she said” yes” as he placed the ring on her finger.

Duke looked at his wife of 24 years and asked “her that if she had checked on the car lot”she said” yes” so he stood up and said” ok it’s time to go back to work in some sort of fashion line up the equipment and roll up the tools.” Once this was completed he told Jess, Nick, and Jennie to ride with the wife as they rolled off the job and everyone was leaving for the day Poco and his son Bear came walking up and say’s” boss can I talk to you. ”Duke says” what’s on your mind Poco.”

“Well boss I have worked with you for 20 years and my son for his entire working life and we want to change our minds on staying, I have talked to my wife and if the invite is still open we would love to come.” “Well you old blanket ass (which Duke was the only person in the world who could say that to him) of course it is so meet us at the yard on Saturday ready to go.”

Justine pulled into the office yard and told the 3 passengers to clean your hummer out completely of everything personal in there, as she walked into the office and calls someone. Just then Jennie came in and asked” what’s going on mom.”
“Well the hummer is a business rig owned by the company so it went with the company.”

“MOM! you lost your hummer?” Says Jennie
“Yes but daddy bought me something new and it’s on the way here now.”
Just then the phone rang and Justine answered it, and it was Duke asking if her new toy was there and she said just about. “Well when you take care of the rest please see if that used one was still there and get it for Poco there coming with us.”
“She answered ok hunny I will and I just wanted to tell you that I love you.”
As she hung up she heard a truck pull in and it was her new Suburban that they had picked out, the ¾ ton with the roof basket, tan with standard wheels, the diesel motor was just purring. She walked outside to look it over. It had everything that they had ordered inside and out she told the kids to load up as the sales man drove them back to the lot a few miles down the road.

As they pulled in there was two other brand new vehicles, parked all washed and ready to go, they all walked into the office and he handed her some keys and paper work, she turned and gave Jennie one set and said the “jeep is yours, jump in and drive it back to the yard.” Jennie looked at her and said really “Oh My god it is beautiful” she ran outside to the 07’ four door YJ with the top down on 36 inch tires, light bars, also in a tan color started it up and left for the yard. Next she turned to Jess and Nick and handed them a set of Keys and says” here is your early wedding present.” So they ran out to the other vehicle outside it was a brand new 1 ton, 4 door, diesel loaded on 36inch tires , light bar, and all the goodies inside and out.
As they looked it over Justine yelled” Nick to come back in” and sent Jess back to the yard in the new truck. As Nick walked back Jess fired up the new Chev and left for the yard.

Justine turned to the sales man and asked if that other used truck was still here and he said “yes.” She looked at him and said “write it up” and that Duke would be in later with a check for it so he did. He had it pulled up and washed; she gave Nick the keys and said “to the yard son.” Now that everyone was back at the yard and most of the employees where living for home Duke asked Jeff to stay along with Poco and his son Bear, “hey I need some help finishing something’s around here.” Kenny was loading up the older Kenworth lo-boy set up with a New Holland skidsteer loader that he was keeping , and a John Deere 410 back hoe, he had already loaded his sons 86’ step side chev on the C-65.

Nick pulled into the yard in a 90’ diesel chev suburban 4x4 green in color, duke yelled for Poco.”Poco you old apache come here! I have something for you” as Nick walked up and gave Duke the keys.

Poco said “yes boss” Duke turned and threw him the keys that Nick handed him “get into your new truck and hook up to the 10,000 lbs trailer head home and get loaded up,” Bear will drive home your old truck when we are done while giving him a wink.
It took Poco a second to understand and said “you’re kidding me right, that’s mine it is beautiful really mine.” With a big smile he accepted.

“Hey get the ranch name on it before you get hooked up, Kenny has the door stickers damn it. He should be done with my truck by now,” the girls were loading up the last of the personal stuff out of the office.

Duke walked out to end of the yard and pulled up the big cube van and backed up to the loading ramp walked out and opened the back doors to show the four wheelers and yelled to Bear “load up the oils drums, the fuel drums and the rest of that shit.” Which he did on the spot, now that everything was getting done.
Justine walked up and said “the movers just called there almost to the house and that she should go.”

Duke said fine but take Jennies jeep so they can finish loading up her truck. Since Jennies jeep was done , “Diamond Ridge Ranch” Hey Jeff yelled Duke “are you sure that you don’t need some gas money for the ride back from the ranch.”

Which he said “boss you have done enough and my brother and me, we will be fine.”
Duke walked over to check on Kenny, he had changed the door signs on his service truck had is baja VW bug on his trailer, and all of his stuff loaded up. The signs changed on the old trucks and all of the new ones, he was now loading his ammo locker in the unused bins in the truck and his weapons, his rifles were only a few but they were very good ones first he loaded his shot guns he had a 20gauge Remington mdl 1100, and a 12 gauge in the same mdl. Then he loaded is Winchester 4-10 pump mdl 42, and his .22 Winchester mdl 62, next was his rifles a savage 300 lever action scoped, hennery’s 45LC lever action, Remington 300 win mag, an old 45-70, his M1 ,sks, and his new toy a Romanian ak47. He had already loaded his side arms his 45’s long colt and acp, his 45 lc/4-10, the colt woodsman, a pair of Ruger P-89’s, and his 500 SW, and lastly his 45lc/4-10 derringer that he keep on him at all times.

Duke asked him if he had filled the fuel truck He said of course, and the keys and signs have been changed. He then asked if there was anything else for him to do because he would like to get on the road. I told him to get going, so he loaded up and started his way out of the yard to the ranch.

Back at the house Justine pulled in right behind the movers and told them just a minute has she opened up the house,” Ok everything is marked and ready to be loaded please remember this if it isn’t marked please leave it because we sold the home with most of the furniture with it.” By the time girls arrived the movers where finishing and started on the road so the girls cleaned up and what about their business Jennie jumped in jeep and headed out, Jess was waiting for Nick for the nights events and to go say there good bys before they all left.

Right around dark Duke shows up and headed right for the shower, Justine got some clean clothes out for him and got his supper on the table with his few remaining cold beers. As he comes out all clean and ready for dinner he says “the house looks pretty empty hun.”

“Yes it was, now get over here and eat before it gets cold.”
“Ok Ok” he retorted as he sits down and takes a drink of cold beer.
“So are we leaving tomorrow or Sunday?”

“He answered tomorrow” as he took another bite of his dinner. Once he finished he asked her if she would like to go down to the watering hole and say good bye to their friends and she smiled and said yes.

The next morning the whole family was home and duke gathered them all up and said “I want to be out of here by noon so there are some things that need to be done while I meet up with the Ryan’s at the office , so I want nick to load the gold and silver in the safe that is in the tool box of my truck and then my weapons and ammo out of the walk in gun safe, girls I want you to help your mother load up the rest of the house, then Nick get the car trailer and load up the girls cars on it.”
“Dad don’t worry about mine” says Jennie “because I sold it last night and there picking it up here shortly”.

“Ok that saves a trip Nick load up your blazer on the back and you can tow then behind your guys new truck, then meet me at the yard.”
So then Duke walked over to his father’s old company rig and started it up the old dodge 1 ton flat bed roared up and he took off. At the yard The Ryan’s were waiting as he pulled in he parked the flat bed with the rest of the company rigs that were parked, walked up to the office as the Poco and his family showed up, Duke told them to wait that he would be done in a bit and to check all the tie downs.

While inside the office he shook Decland Ryan’s hand and said “you will so own one of the nicest excavation companies in town,” they sat down in Dukes old office until Marcus Williams from the bank showed up. And opened his brief case, started pulling out papers out for them to sign as they signed the papers Marcus started notarizing them “so there you go Duke”

“Say wait a minute didn’t you forget something” Duke says
“ no, that is next, he handed him a envelope then he said” everything should be in order the way you wanted it done, also the last of the monies from the sale of your home is in there also.”

Duke look at them all and said “that’s perfect as always , now do not forget that I am expecting you to give the same service to Decland that you have given me for the last 22 years.” He smiled and said “absolutely.”

“Ok thank you we have things to go over” said Decland. With that Marcus left,” so where did you live off at and who’s staying Duke”, and Duke went over all the info gave him the keys the alarm codes and so on. Decland final asked” why you kept the old trucks?”

Duke replied” that’s what I started with and since you have new ones of your own.”
“Then why did you not keep that old flatbed?”
“Well my father always told me that this truck was a good old truck and should stay with the company.” Decland spoke “while I guess I well have it rebuilt and use it for my work truck then if you don’t mind.”

“Hell no! I don’t, it would look good back out on the job.” With that he decided that it was a good thing what he had done, he have kept the family company going just under a new family. Plus the one thing that he had on the back of his mind was the boom in the business had been going way to long, so he felt this was time to get out while the getting was good. As he turn he had seen that just about everyone was there except his family.

Back at the house Nick had done what he was told and loaded the bags of gold coins and silver coins in the safe hidden in the bottom of the tool box, then he started loading the ammo in the two job boxes in on the flat bed when they were both full.
He asked Justine “were the rest of the ammo go” She said “the back of her Suburban”
He said “ok” and finished loading the last of the ammo.

He then started to load the weapons in the creates that they had made for them, except the Siaga shotgun 12gauge the SAR 8 and Duke’s favorite ccw weapons his xd 9MM and his judge 45lc. Which he knew where they went in his truck so he put them there. As he went back to loading the rest he noticed that duke had marked where everyone went his pride of the bunch was his 25-06 Remington 700 bdl scoped with an old Deerfield 3x9 which he crated. Next was his 338 sako, his 30-06 Remington 700 with a Leopold scope, his 300 short mag Winchester, His grizzly 50 cal, his hennery 45lc lever action, Sako fin bear in a 223 scoped also in a Leopold 3x9, which filled the first two crates.

He started on the next create which held the 3 yugo sks, 2 bushmaster ar-15s in the m4 version, two Mosins ,at the ends went the Uzi on one side and the mac-10 on the other side, and some older 1903 spring fields. Now that that create was filled Jess started backing them out to her dads truck then went back into the house to fetch the rest of the creates.

Seeing that he had two more creates to fill Nick stopped to take a break, went in to the kitchen and got a cold soda out of the fridge.
Then from out of know where wife yells at him is soon to be “get to work dads waiting for us.”

“Jesus you sound like your dad.” So he went back in were Jess was starting back out to the truck stopping to kiss him. “love you” Jess say with a smile as he started to back to loading the next create which seem to hold Justine’s weapons her Remington 25-06, 243 Winchester, 2 Ruger mini 14s scoped, a Remington 20gauge mdl 1100, then another , Winchester wingmaster 12gauge , a Remington 870 12 gauge, a calico 9mm carbine, a pair of 10/22s , .38 SW, a Ruger sp101 .357 mag, a pair of Ruger p-89s ,and a pair Beretta 92fs.

While he walked out of the safe with the full create Jennie walk in with a couple of boxes, as he went back in and start to take the pistols off the wall there was several both autos and revolvers to one he noticed was a rock river arms 911 .45 acp that he has fired several times with Duke. It had a note on it as he took it off the wall, he read the note it said “Nick since I know that you really like this pistol and I know that you do not have a semi auto, I give it to you ask Jennie for the spare mags and the holster signed Dad” he turned and before he said a thing Jennie was behind him with 5 loaded mags and a holster. He started to walk out to their new truck with it and Jess was there waiting for him with a smile “told you not to a break”
“Did all of you know?” Nick asked “Why yes, dad told us last night.”

“Well let me get this in the truck with the Ruger .30 cal balckhawk.”

Duke was hoping that they were just about done so he called Justine she answered and said that they were on the way and Nick had found the note about a ½ hour ago.

Just then Jennie pulled into the yard with the top down and her stuff tied down in the back with her long hair blowing in a pony tail “there all behind me dad.”
“ OK” says Duke, next pulled in Nick in Duke’s truck, behind him was Justine in hers, and lastly was pulled in was Jess in their truck.
“Let’s get on the road” says Duke. Justine gives him a look and say’s” not before we have one last lunch here at the yard on dads old truck damn it.” Duke answers “I guess.”

Justine says “don’t guess just sit” the girls start unpacking some KFC on the flat bed and everyone eats. Duke looks down at the watch and sees its 12;15 and looks at his wife she nods with a tear in her eye, she looks at everyone and say” let’s get on the road.”

They all get in to the trucks Nick gets in the low-boy, Jeff jumps in the fuel truck, bear jumps in the cube van, Justine pulls in front of the pack then Jennie, next is Jess in their new truck, followed Poco and his wife, then Jeff’s brother in Jeff’s truck, following last behind the whole convoy is Duke.

2....

How Long Will the Food Last?
Now let's do a little math.

1. Let's assume that a prepared family has a three-month emergency food supply.
2. Let's also assume that for each prepared family there are 99 other families with one-week or less of food in their homes.
3. If all the food of the one prepared family is distributed equally to all the other 99 families, then each of the other 99 families will receive an additional one-day's worth of food.
4. Therefore, after about one-week all 100 families will begin to starve to death.
5. After about three more weeks, or a total of four-weeks, all 100 families will have died of starvation (if you do not consider cannibalism).

Don't like the above math? Well let's change the numbers and be more optimistic as follows:

1. Let's assume that a prepared family has a one-year emergency food supply.
2. Let's also assume that for each prepared family there are only 49 other families with one-week or less of food in their homes.
3. If the food is distributed equally (due to voluntary charity, or requisition, or confiscation, or theft) then each of the 49 other families will receive an additional one-week's worth or food.
4. Therefore, after about two-weeks all 50 families will begin to starve to death.
5. After about three more weeks, or a total of five-weeks, all 50 families will have died of starvation.

Still don't like the above math? Well let's change the numbers and include all the food stored in every local grocery store and every local food warehouse. Current estimates are that each geographical area has about three-days worth of food within its geographical boundaries. That means there is enough stored food to feed everyone in each geographical area for approximately three-days. If the food distribution network comes to a standstill, then there will be no more food. On your own, please add three-days of food for every family to both of the two above math examples and see what the revised answer is with all the stored food added into the original equation. (Note: Some people may not believe the math in this example because they look at all the food in a big grocery store and they know that if they had all that food then their family could survive for several years. What these people don't realize is that they are not the only family that depends on that grocery store. There are usually thousands of families shopping at that store every week, and the food supplies in that store would not feed thousands of families for very long. The truth is that the food would only last about three-days if every family got an equal share of that food. This is the reason the bullies will attempt to take control of the food. The bullies do not want to share that food with anyone because then the bullies would also starve to death in a very short period of time. Therefore, to make sure that they live as long as possible, the bullies will keep the vast majority of the food for themselves and for the individuals who help them to defend the food once they have it under their control.)

Still don't like the above math? Then let's include all the stored food in the entire world. According to a variety of different estimates there is about a three-month world wide food supply if the food was shared equally with everyone in the world. Even if you assume that each government allows half of its citizens to starve to death, there would still only be a six-month food supply for the remaining one-half of each country's citizens.

The above math is the reason that bullies will attempt to confiscate, requisition, or steal all the food within a geographical area. And once they have the food in their possession they will not be distributing it for free to anyone for any reason, even though they solemnly promised to do so before they got control of the food. The bullies aren't stupid and they completely understand the above math but they have no intention of sharing this basic knowledge with you because then you wouldn't voluntarily go along with their plans.

Therefore, if you are one of those individuals who has decided not to prepare because you expect your charitable neighbors to feed you, or you expect the local bullies to feed you, then the chances are very high that you will starve to death during a worst case breakdown in society.

If the bullies succeed in gaining control of all the food in a geographical area then nobody is going to take any of that food away from them except through the use of deadly force, or if a person agrees to become a willing slave and do whatever the bullies command. Unfortunately, the bullies will not need too many slaves so please don't expect to get one of these highly sought after and very desirable "starvation wages only" slave positions.

The bullies will also realize that their days are numbered unless they can somehow grow more food. Therefore, almost everyone (except for a few doctors and repairmen) who hasn't starved to death and who can still do a day's work will be put to work by the bullies in one way or another in growing food. The wages will be one day of food for one day of work. If you don't work, you don't eat. If you don't like the job assigned to you then there are 10 other people who do want your job. If you try to steal some of the food you are growing then you will receive the death penalty. If you try to work outside the established bully system to grow your own food then you will become an easy target for anyone and everyone who wants your food and the bullies will not do anything to protect you. And you won't be able to protect yourself because the bullies now have all your firearms, and anyone using a firearm will be reported to the bullies for not complying with their original demand to surrender all weapons and ammunition.

So here's my idea (don't know if it's anygood). I'm trying to get some SHTF food stockpiled on the cheap. I found a place selling water drums for 5 bucks, so I'm thinking of taking one, slicing the top 6 inches off like a lid, putting various bags of flour, sugar, beans, etc. in it and carefully duct taping the lid back on to keep it air tight. Using the dry ice -carbon dioxide method befor sealing it.

This 16 year old kid beat up a 81 year old who had come back from his daughters wedding and decided to take a night walk. Why? Apparently he wanted to impress some girls.

He was in my elementary school and i remember seeing him on the playground because he was in the same grade as me.

Okay, so it's obvious that the optimal BOV would be a truck with 4x4. But some of us can't buy/find/afford trucks in the are, so what would you use if you had only cars to choose from?? I mean getting to a location in the woods that is kinda, but not far off the beaten tracks... matter of fact, what if you were encountered with tracks, what would you do to combat those??
So here's the list
Ground clearance
Torque- especially in FWD
relative damage resistance/frame rigidity- unibodies:confused: and full frames

So far, some of my thoughts have been
the subaru loyale, I saw a pic of a badaas one around here somewhere

AMC Eagle, my dad had one 4x4 and not super huge

older Toyota Celicas, some rally history, don't know if they were all Alltracs or not

briefly the impreza/wrx/sti- then I saw what happens when they hit a little bit of mud

Subaru Forester, could handle itself

I've also considered the Dodge Neon. With overall larger tires it may work/also has history in off road rally

So what are your thoughts and why?? I know, anything can be done with enough time and money. But if you were at a car lot that stocked whatever car you wanted and the sirens went off what would grab?? We're talking mostly stock with tires and suspension being the only mods.

I think im going to go with the USGI gortex system. I like that I can layer it for different climates and levels of activities, the fact that its light weigtht, super durable, and affordable.

I have a USMC Gortex parka and gortex pants. Now I need a fleece. Will fleece keep you warm when it is wet? I am thinking about getting a GI Polartech 300 weight fleece. Any better options in the 50 dollar price range? Might go with a current army one as they are cheaper.

I think the only other piece is the long under wear top and bottom. How good is milspec? I noticed the milspec long underwear is on the expensive side b.c of demand. Where can I get possibly waterproof or warm when wet, extremly warm yet light weight long under wear. I would wear this layer in extreme cold -20 to -40 with heavy wind. For moving I am good to go with a gortex shell and cammies. For standing still I am usually good with the fleece. I want the long under wear for super cold stagnent moments.

I have no experiance with the fleece 300 weight bottom insulators that go on top of your cammies and long under wear. How good are they?

Finally I am looking for a gortex waterproof set of glooves and face mask. Im thinking seal skinz and mittens for on top.

Anything I missed?

What are you using and why?

This is a little thing I started throwing together yesterday, it is going to be a mobile power station basically consisting of solar, generator, and eventually wind.

Presently, it has the following:
-Knaack 4824 chest
-(2) Harbor Freight solar panel kits - know they aren't the best, but will do for now
-(2) Champion 900/1100watt 2 stroke generators - have gas cans and oil stored elsewhere for these
-(2) MAXX (Wal-Mart) 125 amp hour deep cycle batteries
-Cobra 2500/5000 watt inverter
-Misc cords and cables, plus 12v quick connects

Planning on adding:
-wind generator (when money allows)
-12v flood lights
-wheel kit, this thing is getting heavy
-another battery

Still a lot to do to make it operational, like run all the connecting wires/cables. With the 12v quick connects I will be able to hook up my truck to this box (have the quick connects on the front and rear of my truck for my winch). This is just the beginning, so any comments or ideas would be great.

ok I checked like I said I would ... hard red wheat 5.05 a bushel which would give you at least a three gallon bucket.. you'd have to winnow this stuff yourself.. which is easily done
Durum wheat is 5.00 a bushel.. dont know how many bushels in a ton.. but I get grain using 3 gallon buckets ,, I have no grain bin that I can store a ton of grain in..nor do I have available manpower to help unload a 2,000 lb bag into enough buckets out of the back of my truck..
corn and flax and sunflower seeds would be good feed for livestock as I use both for my poultry and flax for my horses..you would have to have a 3/4 ton pick up to come up to the loading dock to get it and then protect it from weather until you get it to your storage ...maybe there is a list of grain elevators state by state.. and you guys see how far away you are from each one in your state..
It would be worth the gas just to get one ton for preps for the future..

They are not made anymore, this is a 1985. There are similar types out there like Scamp, Burro, Casita but the Uhaul's are unique, they were made only for Uhaul by Coleman in the late 80's for rental, they were later auctioned off in the early 90's. This thing is a ton of fun. Here are some pics of our first camping trip and some up my upgrades.
