I kinda like the way this guy has segmented his BOBS into Battle Bag, Bugout bag and immediate response bag..... He is a cop, so he has a need for the immediate response bag. But I kinda like the Battle bag Idea in case of sudden meltdown of western civilization or something like that. My BOB is a combo of all 3 but what do you think?

i do pretty much the same thing. i have multiple redundancies in important areas (fire, knife, gun) in all my kits. as i'm not a cop i don't have a deployment kit but i do keep a fanny pack with extra mags, knife, flashlight, power bars, etc. i also have a fully stocked BOB, a vehicle kit designed to extend the BOB by several weeks, and a fishing vest set up as my 'battle' vest.

This sounds quite similar to what I'm setting up also. The main difference I have is that I'm equipping my packs for modularity so I can attach and detach components as needed.

given the importance of a cutting tool, light and fire, prepping for loss, breakage, etc is only smart. i keep 4 or 5 knives and at least 5 different fire starting devices in my various kits (3-4 butane lighters, waterproof matches, strike anywhere matches, magnesium fire starter, road flares, ferro-chromium sticks, etc). i also have 5-6 lights of different styles (a nightstar shaker [the only kind that really works], 3 different LED lights, a wind up light/radio/cell phone charger in the BOB, emergency liquid paraffin candles [for light and heat], etc).
