Well, most of the spring/summer stuff is done with here, so it's time to get ready for the fall garden.
Yesterday I pulled most of the weeds in the bed. Today I loaded it down with horse/cow/goat/donkey/chicken manure. (The one in the top right of the pic.)

Today I rolled out the black visqueen.

Then pulled up the old conveyor belt rubber strips that were on the ground along the sides of the bed and laid them on the tops of the bed to help keep the visqueen down and close off the gaps along the sides.

Then when all is done I sit on the golf cart and have a cold water.

Now the bed is ready for the fall. The visqueen will prevent any weeds from sprouting, infact, it will get so hot under it that most weed seeds in the dirt will die.
When I'm ready to use the bed, I can either remove the visqueen and use the bed for sowing things like mustards, or I can leave the visqueen on and cut holes for seedlings and plant them in the holes. Then I can hook up the drip irrigation and viola, I'm ready to go.
