Is there somewhere I can find a compilation of all current third parties to do a compare and contrast? I'm not even sure where to begin with this, but I'm disillusioned by both the Democrat and Republican parties.

check out the constitution party: http://www.constitutionparty.com/

ron paul is a constitutionist, though he is running as a republican in order to have a chance of winning.

Hey, man;

Everybody's disillusioned with politics by now. The 2 big parties both suck. Only thing is, that voting for a party that CAN'T have a chance of being elected is just like not voting at all.

Yea, I know that idea of "lesser of 2 evils" isn't really popular with most of these guys. The ones making a statement and all that crap. But, if you think about it, the "statement" isn't worth the effort. Kind of like voting for Obama because he's black. Or Hillary because of gender, which is questionable.
Just a sore spot with me, but if you weigh the issues and the 2 big parties, and vote for whoever you think does the LEAST harm to you, you will probably be happier than the person who made his statement, and is stuck with the results.

BTW, wasn't it Ross Perot that gave us clinton?
Sure hope history won't repeat itself.

Whats the diff! No matter whom you vote for IF it counted would still be for money not the people. I like Ron Paul but what chance does he have?

I've waited in responding to some of the suggestions on here because I've been a bit too impassioned to keep it coherent and friendly.

I understand the frustrations over the system, which is incredibly flawed. What I don't understand is the attitude of defeat I'm witnessing regarding politics. I view expressing a political affiliation as drawing a definitive line in the sand regarding the priciples you choose to follow. If I vote for somebody other than the person representing my views its worse than not voting at all because I've sold myself out.

If I routinely make choices that compromise my position while there is a system in place, how will my ability to make good choices be effected when it fails? People develop habits from repeatedly making the same choices, and habits define your character. Ever heard the expression "How you do one thing is how you do everything."

I for one have developed habits of laziness that involve, in part, choosing the easy way out. That no longer sits well with my conciense and I'm making effrorts to improve the choices I make... in all areas of my life.

Thank you, CFI, for the link to the Constitution Party.

the black/white, republican/democrat, two-party system is a paradigm. there are both good and bad candidates on both sides so the best thing to do is just stop thinking in the black/white terms and start seeing in color. one good way to do this is look up the voting records of the individuals and you can see for yourself right there where their morals lie.

i would love to see a prominent third party spring up in the USA. but i'm sure the crooks will raise their children to infiltrate it or something. you're still going to have to rely on research to know who's who. just read =)

Just think about the word you used

disillusioned

dis·il·lu·sion(ds-lzhn)
tr.v. dis·il·lu·sioned, dis·il·lu·sion·ing, dis·il·lu·sions
To free or deprive of illusion.

Sounds like you've basically made the important first step, which is, you realized the paradigm. You have chosen to stop being decieved by the illusion. Your next step will be in research to find out who's who and support the candidate who is already there, in politics, and has a chance of getting into the seat where they can do the most good. Stay in contact with them through email, and make sure they never forget what you want of them while they're there ;-)

Happy politics. Good luck and peace out :)
