So is it just me or are the video games our children play, military training simulators? Are they training our kids how to kill? Does this make violence more acceptable?

Before video games it was cow boys and indians. I was playing soldier in the woods as a kid long before modern video game technology. The notion that anything other then ones self is reason for violence would be nothing more then a poor excuse.

They do use them in the military for training. I feel that they do get kids use to violence at a young age.

It is my particular beliefe that if anything, video games are a release. A manner of therapy for kids. Granted, yes, every once in a while a bad seed or two take things too far and kill someone. But for other, more intelligent kids, it helps get out frustration and helps take your mind off things. And that's all video games, not just violent ones. I've played video games since I was very young and I've turned out just fine.

I,too, am a gamer, and my 10 yr old loves to get on my other puter and coop with me. We play Halo, Doom, COD, Battlefield 1942, and Medal of Honor. Believe it or not, playing games improves your hand/eye coordination, gives your brain a workout for planning/strategy, and, yes, can be therapeutic. Yes, some games go overboard, like Grand Theft Auto series. Yes, some "bad seeds" go off the deep end and get stupid. Doom got the bad rep for this in the early 90's, but my 10 yr old laughs at the GFX compared to some of the "real world physics" sims.

Read the icelandic Sagas. You'll find a 10 year old splitting someones skull with an axe. Violence is human. Not caused by video games

Man I liked Grand theft Auto, danm! Im not much of a gamer though. Real life is fascinating and dangerous enough at the same time for me!

Read the icelandic Sagas.

Read Genesis; History's first murder occured in the 2nd generation of humanity.

Violence, unfortunately, is all too human.

Have been for some time. I'd say the better part of a century by now.
