Humans are better walkers than runners, even a big fat bear can run the fastest man into the ground. We shine at doing long distance walking, reserving running for emergencies. I have incorporated walking into my exercise regime by walking 5 miles on Sun., Tue., Wed., and Sat. I'm doing this in 1hr. 15 min., and am pleased with the results which include me getting my knees back after jogging for several months. I had to abandon ant squatting exercise in conjunction with any jogging - running exercise, as my knees were so stiff. Walking gives me a good workout, and I feel refreshed when I finish - not tired like jogging - and my knees have remained flexible. I may give up jogging all together!
