two days running, the Russian stock market has closed early as a stop-loss measure.

I'm wondering why the same hasn't happened here. I'm really surprised. I do think if we loose another couple bank perhaps it will start here. Does anyone else think the goobermint has been manipulating the numbers? You can't buy a silver eagle for less than 10 dollars over spot but silver is sinking in value?!!?!?!?!?!?! The goobermint just committed to another 85 billion yesterday (over a trillion if you count the weekend before) but the dollar value is rising!?!?!?!?!? Oil is down below $100 dollars a barrel but gas here is selling for the same it was when crude was 145!?!?!?!? Gas here in Naptown is $4.15 to $4.50 a gallon! Threre are some VERY VERY serious and troubling disconnects right now!! For me is points to B.A.D.!

I'm really wondering about the whole silver/gold price thing too. I have friends trying to buy... but are having a hard time even finding the stuff... hm. I thought supply+demand=price... guess that don't apply anymore? What gives?
Also, the dollar is going up largely because the rest of the world is crumbling faster than we are... like what I just posted about Russia, Japan too is having similar issues... the Chinese market's dropping fast too etc. You might hate me, but regular unleaded is 3.80s here right now in Idaho... what state are you in, the hurricane's bumped gulf-coast prices a bit.
all in all though I agree with you... the time is soon. Gosh it sucks just typing that.

The old Chinese curse of "may you live in interesting times" sure seems to be in full force...The Tokyo market closed early one day this week already, first time in its history it did that. The London market was getting hammered as I watched the late night business news (late here in WA state I mean) and now the ripple affects keep coming.
Gas here is in the 3.70 ish range (King County WA)

Gas appears to be just a refinery issue by region. Gas is around $3.80 on nornthern CA. It has been falling for about a month now from a high of close to $4.50.

Idaho Corsair, I live deep in corn and bean country on the outskirts of Indianapolis. From a midwestern point of view this whole thing just stinks of 8 day old fish! Something ain't right!
