Heads up stocks down almost 500. Keep your eyes open and your preps ready. They said it was a great loss but there have been worse in recent history and not to worry.. There goes my retirement fund...and ya wanna know what else stinks?

I was almost to close on a home mortgage with a company known as Serrada Motgage.

Under 6% intrest 30 yr fixed and saving me nearly $300 a month in payments...then Lehman Brother's tanks...and you guessed it...Serrade is a subsidiary...so my loan may not go through at all!!!

If tomorrow is like today this will scare a lot of people. Usually there's a flight to safety, but nothing looks safe. Investments that aren't related to the mortgage/financial mess go hit really hard as investors that are in trouble dumped everything.

Very bad day for me personally. My IRA's gone from -2.5% year-to-date to -15% in one week. My conservative positions held up fairly well until today, when the "good" stuff was sold almost as quickly as the bad :(
