At this point I am less concerned with the oil prices and more concerned with the $3.99 gas at the pump. I realize that the two are linked, but I would be much happier if I saw a substantial difference at the pump. Hopefully this means that gas will drop below $3.00 a gallon by winter, or at least before the election...

For the first time in a long time diesel is actually cheaper than regular unleaded.

Diesel at the pump Was $4.49 last week $4. 89 this week. Fuel oil was $3.49 Friday and $3.69 today.

Reduced demand, plus look at the stock market. A lot of speculators probably have to dump their oil contracts to raise cash. Considering the amount of leverage they use, oil and other commodities may be the only holdings not underwater by some of those guys.

the price of oil dropped on news that damage to the industry in the gulf was minimal...at least according to bloomberg.

Nothing seems to make sense these days. With the Government backing Fannie & Freddie has kept consumer prices high. But the problem is that it most likely will make the fall when it comes a lot harder & longer. I say hang on the ride is just starting. It could be a wild ride that many won't be able to take.
