The MAG I run (80+ people) is spread out over a wide area. One of our members suggested we use the same system that his local HAM group uses.

Check out www.callingpost.org and they will walk you through it. Basically once the system is set up you access it through the internet or phone to trigger the calling. You control who gets the calls, if you only want the calls to go up to a certain time of day and much more.

You call in, punch in your access code and numerical password, record your message and then hit the proper button to initiate the calling. The system will then automatically call everyone on the list at the same time to deliver your message. If no one answers the system automatically calls back. If you have a microphone on your PC you can also activate the system that way.

We have four people in our MAG that can activate the system. All four in are in different geographic regions so that we are not all affected by one event. The cost is very reasonable.

Just wanted to pass that along. If you have any questions be happy to answer them if I can.

We use that for Scouts. The local school board uses it also. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, three minutes after we sit down for dinner ... "they" call! Sometimes on Sunday too!

we have activated it once for real about two years when North Korea was suddenly firing off their missiles and had their underground nuke test. A tense time as I recall. The beauty of the system is that it is adaptable for you own group.
