I love talking with the Vets that I come into contact with. Almost on a daily basis. Sometimes I just wanna get out my recorder and chat for hours. I hold them at top honor in my heart. These guys and gals have been there, done that. And the stories are just amazing.
If anyone has any stories, please post them for all to see.

Although gone, Always remembered.

Here is a tidbit from a chat with my Uncle Jack WWII Vet. My Gma's brother. My Gma just passed BTW, and now there are only 2 left out of 6 siblings that can tell WWII war stories. My Aunt Jean, and Uncle Jack.

Now, Uncle Jack:

Once told me that the monkeys over in Japan used to knock the Jap soldiers out of the Coconut trees. Sometimes killing them. He said every now and then you'd here a yell, and it' be a Jap knocked out by a monkey throwing a coconut at them.
He lit up telling that story. He just thought it was the funniest thing, and you could see on his face that he was picturing it in his mind while telling me.

In the Phillippines we would always get the noobie to throw rocks at the monkeys in the trees. As he was trying to hit them, we would secretly move back into the quonsun hut. At the momment his face showed complete horror, we would shut the door and lock it. Then proceeded a hailstorm of rocks bouncing off the roof of the hut. See the noobie did not know those little boogers threw rocks back. It is amazing how many rocks a hundred monkies can put into the air. This was at the Upper MEF camp at Cubi Point. The huts were situated right next to the perimeter fence and dense jungle on the other side. What a hell of a rite of passage that was.
