Who would need half a million coffins and why?

I read a post on this a few months back on another forum. I live in Georgia so I decided to go check them out first hand. The place is located in Madison, Ga. It is rather overwhelming when you see them in person. After a few locals conducted some investigating, here is what was found out.

The "coffins" are actually called vaults. Most cemeteries use them. The thing that looks like a lid is actually the base. The coffin is placed on the base and the vault itself is place over the coffin to seal it. The polymer vault is actually very strong and supports much more weight than a coffin will.

However, these may very well be used in place of a coffin. One "investigator" contacted FEMA and was told that fema did own the lot that the vaults are stored on. The FEMA rep did not/would not give details of their use. Also, the county records showed the lot belonging to a plastic manufacturer. The plastic manufacturer denied that the property belonged to them and had no records that they ever owned the lot.

When I was at the location I noted that each vault would hold about 5 human bodies. That is about the size of the average household. One other thing to note is that looking back on several years of sattelite imagery of the location... the stacks have remained untouched. They are not being used or rotated out.

I could use thou containers.They would be great for underground storage. I wonder if you vacuum them out it would hold the vacuum.
