It was good :) Makes you really think  If you would have let me buy ammo six months ago! Then again they didnt have any training to use the gun and they left it where it could be picked up. If that happens I will eat sleep and poop with a pistol fully loaded on my side. But dont worry FEMA will be here!

This could serve as a training video . "How NOT to Bug in ."

They had a gun but no ammo? She wouldn't let him buy ammo!? That's what happens when you let a head-in-the sand wife like her tell you how to live. Likely because of her, her husband is dead. Although I don't know if we would've had the guts to shoot those two thugs through the window to begin with (which I would've done).

Also, that whiny, ingrate daughter is annoying.

Mike , I expect Two unwelcome longterm visitors , Murphy Law and Bart Simpson .
Murphy is going to be busy and ambitious .
The children will most likely be at their whinning annoying worst .
I suspect the best use of a .22 rifle will be to keep video game deprived 14 year old busy with rabbits in garden and not driving everyone else crazy . He may even bring home some rabbits .

that film made me think about how hard it is to bug in without having jerks try to take all your crap......i have a sliding back door and a front window and door......i have to think about a way to secure those two spots

I've been giving some thought to how to fortify the household in a SHTF situation as well. We've got sliding glass doors and a big picture window in front.

My best bet will be to put up the Hurrican shutters on most of the house. This poses another problem. Just as it would make getting into the house difficult, it will make getting out fo the house in an emergency a bitch too.

I've also got a boat load of sandbags (for flooding control) after last hurricane season. I guess these could be used to build some "fortified" positions. Might need to consider carving some "View/gun" ports in the hurricane panels. I am hesitant to do this though for fear of structural weakening the panels if they are needed for a storm.

The scarry part is this was probably very realistic. The family made a bunch of mistakes, but the guy did show a bit of inginuity. They were probably a little better than average at urban survival.

It will be UGLY when civilization breaks down.

Yeah, I had already seen it. That whining child thing wouldn't happen here, my wife already doesn't tolerate that from ours. And ammo, my wife wants to shoot her guns, so ammo isn't a problem. And she's used to me sitting around the house with a gun in reach. She likes to leave the door open on nice evenings to get fresh air through the screen door, so I have a pistol at hand in case of a "home invasion" type who thinks my screen door is too inviting. They been on the rise lately.

From the way the jerks talked to the guy I think they had been taking advantage of him for years . They were the guys always borrowing tools and not returning them or the favors . They showed him no respect .
Try to figure out who you can trust in advance .

An important preparation should be" find out who you can trust " , a head of time .
