I'm looking at buying a wide band HT transceiver. Currently I'm looking at the the Kenwood TH-F6A http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/1739 and the Yaesu VX-6R http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/5013 or the Yaesu VX-7R http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/ht/0777.html. anyone have any thoughts or opinions on which one is better or sugestions for another wide band HT?
Thanks
Tim
I have a TH-F6 and it is a good unit. The VX-8 is out now and has a bit better specs than the VX6/7. The TH-F6 does give full power on 220, the VX-7 does only 220 miliwatts on that band.

I dont know about any of these radios and havent actually been active in HAM radio in quite a few years but I have been seriously thinking about picking one up. I like all three of your options and think I would go with the Kenwood. According to all the reviews they both seem like fine radios but mine is just preference of the Kenwood brand as I have had experience with them in the past. I also dont like the idea of having to use a computer to program the Yaseu with apparently no other "manuel" way to do such. I like to be able to program repeaters as I find them, not when I get back to the house or have a computer handy.
