Well if something bad happens from it, it should be so quick we would never know it!

Similar fears were rampant just before the detonation of the first test nuke.

Ok we know that antimatter will not grow right? so lets say if I have a ounce of antimatter It will NOT!!!!! cause a chain reaction and start eating all other matter for breakfest a ounce of antimatter will destory a once of matter ok and antimatter is so freakin hard (and costly) to make it aint even funny.

2nd the tiny black hole that it could make is stupid it would last for like a millonth or a billonth of a second so it is not going to do much(if anything).

3rd- the guy that keeps saying that we are all going to die from this and is trying to sue the people who are working on it and have the project close down does not even have a physics degree(he started a law degree but I am not sure if he finished it or not). So calm down Look at the physics of it.

WTF!

Oh by the way did you see the price tag of that project so far? I dont think they are worried at the cost of a ounce of antimatter, they can get it at Walmart prices with their budget!

Do you even know how HARD it is to get antimatter???? We can not even get a ounce of it. I was using the ounce as a example just to let you know if we could get antimatter for "wal mart prices" and it was easy to get we would most likely use it as a weapon, a antimatter bomb would make our biggest nukes look like fircrackers. but I guess you know something that I don't cause I guess we are getting antimatter for walmart prices (wait wal mart prices when compared to their budget that's right got it)

Now granted the project cost is a HUGE HUGE amount but we can only make extreamly small amounts of antimatter that last way less than a second. If we could make antimatter by the ounce then we would not only have the biggest weapon known to man but also we would not be in a energy crisis!!!!!

I used a ounce as a example to show that antimatter will not destory more than itself. A ounce of antimatter is NOT going to blow up the universe. People are saying this so I am saying that it is not true!!!!!!!!!! trying to set the record straight. (one theory is this machine will create antimatter and since antimatter and matter don't mix people claim that the smallest amount of antimatter will destroy all matter in the universe which is not true)

The other theory is a tiny black hole will grow and grow and grow and then the universe is again destroyed this also will not happen because if a black hole would happen to form it would last for a extreamly small amount of time.

last time i checked they build accelarators and colliders to prove the physics of it. testing on this scale has never been attempted before. Though Im not a subsciber of the destruction of earth via black hole theories im also not going to say that Hawking Radiation is the be all end all of math. Im just stating you never know what types of results you could get from these types of experiments because they are in essence experiments. My whole point wasnt to argue physics just to state that there are unknown variables. Here are some quotes I compiled just looking around

Frank Wilczek of the Institute for AdvancedStudy in Princeton, N.J.,

related regimes have been explored in detail, and so we have substantial evidence that our theoretical framework for understanding what will happen is reliable. Although we cannot calculate the consequences in complete detail

heres a quote from cern

4. Study of possibly dangerous events during Heavy Ion collisions at LHC

though i didnt drag the whole article from the meeting minutes I pasted up the disclaimer which they had capitolized at the closure of the minutes.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE OFFICIAL POSITION ASSUMES THE THEORY OF BLACK HOLE EVAPORATION IS CORRECT, EVEN THOUGH THERE IS NO EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE TO PROVE SUCH. THIS IS A FAITH-BASED POSITION IN THAT IT RELIES ENTIRELY ON THEORY THAT IS NOT SUBSTANTIATED BY EVIDENCE.

So anyway, though I partly in fun posted the article, there are risks. Real ones from unproven science. Could there be some kind of unexpected reaction......sure there could. is it likely definately not.
