I am thinking of a way to make some "redneck MRE's" myself with the FoodSaver, anyone have any tips or success stories with making individual ration packs for SHTF?
I have a concern about going with food in Bulk containers other than dry goods due to the fact that unless absolutely starving and unable to supplement with foraging and hunting I will be unable to eat a #10 can of ANYTHING before it goes bad due to lack of refrigeration. Up to now I've dealt with the smaller cans of staple foods like beans.
I also don't have a lot of lightweight stuff right now that could be eaten at one sitting or thru-out 1 day and discarded to lighten a load, or the packaging used to improvise for other uses.
I want to accomplish the following as a start:
-Some kind of boil-in-bag or just-add-warm water rice and beans or pasta
-sealing individual packets of seasonings salt/sugar/buillion cubes etc.
-maybe re-packaging some Ramen Noodles into a less flimsy package so it doesn't split open from being looked at wrong.
